[Piano starts]
The sun rose slowly over the crest of the hill covered with snow. It spread across the horizon slowly like a scarlet ribbon then burst up flooding the frozen landscape. It lit up the ice patterned window with colours of orange and pink threw its shadows [Second Piano] across the chess board by the window and caused the woman to raise her heavy lidded eyes to the sight. It dazzled ice crystals across the room to the dark corners where the cobwebs where, waking her up for the first time in so many years.

She breathed in for the first time and the dust moved in the light, the air whirling away in the twilight. [Beat Starts]
She blinked and pulled herself slowly from the wall for her limbs cracked and pained her. She went to the window and opened it, letting the cold air rush into the secret place. It hurt her skin but she stayed there and looked up into the vanilla sky. The icicles cracked around the frame of the window and fell with slow sound into the snow. She blinked again in the light for though it pained her to stare it raised her heart and her soul [Lyrics Start] from the dark recesses where she had hid them. Her eyelashes fluttered in the bitter breeze and her hands grew red as she leaned out of the window on the first day. Her hand moved and knocked over the chess pieces on the table, showing where they had stood so long among the dust. She turned and picked up the knight setting it back in its place marked out, then moved it forward and checkmated the king on the opposite side.
[la dooo] She took the king away slowly and looked at it in her hand.

Shadows of memories flitted across her mind and her thin fingers trembled. She turned away and went to the door, she went to the handle, it opened up before her. She came through the corridor to the door framed by the white snow. She reached out slowly. It was unlocked. The door opened and she came out. The glorious sky titled upwards towards her framed in it’s brilliance by the sun. The snow crushed beneath her feet, not trod for so many years.

She went out and bent down picking up a frail twig that lay just on the surface and twirled it in her frozen fingers. There was nothing around, as far as the horizon and as far as the sky there was nothing but her dark figure standing knee-deep in cold snow. Her grey eyes took it in slowly [Beat stops] and she walked out slowly though the cold bit at her legs and her feet, even though the wind snatched at her hair. She stood very still when she came far enough away from the house and there on the horizon she saw another figure, someone standing with their hands in their pockets. She scrambled across the white landscape leaving her dark footprints behind her. She went on and her hair bobbed around her face and she went on squinting in the light to see the figure. On and on she began to run towards the figure but they were still so far away, she waved her arms, she laughed but still she could not get nearer. She stopped out of breathe as the icy air suddenly bit into her, racing up through her lungs. [Lyrics get louder]

She knelt over in pain and knelt into the snow wrapping her up quickly in its own soft blanket. She tried to pull herself up but she couldn’t and her tears ran down her face as cold as the breath that was clogged in her lungs. She raised her head, the figure still stood there. She got to her feet slowly her hair filled with the soft white snow. She pushed herself up and then went off again though she was crying with pain, across the snow again, her scarf flying back over her shoulder. On and on, across the snow, across the land towards the figure, she tripped. She went flying down back into the snow and she lay there her fingers burning but still, still holding the chess piece in her hand.

She got up again, her boots clunking across the snow again and again she would hear her own footsteps crunching across the snow towards the figure on the edge of the horizon. She put her head down and ran on, listening, listening to the sound, [Beat] beating on and on, 1,2,1,2,1,2,1 … two. [Lyrics start again] It started snowing, her breathe turned into smoke and was lost behind her gone in the moments of her life time. She went on, she had to go on. She never looked back. Her feet pounding the snow the one sound, she went on, and she reached her hands out towards the dark figure who grew, who was growing, taller, bigger than herself up towards the sky, reaching out its arms. [holds the note]

She stumbled but went on, there again her feet, telling her she was still going, she was still running. The snow whirled across the frozen wasteland but her vision as clear, among the snow she could hear other sounds of crying out among the snow but she went on forwards, leaving herself behind, her body stripping away but still she went on running towards the great figure before her that reached out across the sky and stretching itself became a burning light brighter even that the sun, shining across the snow towards her it came, running to met her. It caught her and the golden rays spread across her until she was gone. Her scarf fell away and blew across the white snow, empty and up, up into the sky. The bright light spread across the landscape following the path of the sun, engulfing the lonely footprints left alone in the snow, the house once filled with so much laughter and life and the, the great wide sky. All that was left was silence [beat stops] and white… [trumpets]
The piece I did for Cassie's GMS. To the song Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. It actually goes along with the music if you want to follow the prompts, however it is rather hard to do so. Anyway I hope you enjoy ^^ and I'll think up my own GMS for my turn.

I think it is rather rubbish - NOT!! That was a joke please don't take my first remark literally. You have a great nack for visuals. It was quite painful reading about the woman's first steps into the unknown all that 'icicle breaking'. Ouch.
